Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join a dynamic healthcare team for a temporary assignment. The Radiation Therapist will be responsible for delivering prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compassionate care throughout the process.
Responsibilities
Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients in accordance with physician directives and established protocols.
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment to ensure safe and precise delivery of treatment.
Verify patient identification and treatment parameters before each session.
Monitor patient reactions and conditions during treatment, reporting any unusual responses to the radiation oncologist or nursing staff.
Maintain accurate and detailed treatment records in the department’s information system.
Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, and nursing staff to provide coordinated and effective patient care.
Adhere to all safety, quality assurance, and radiation protection standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Radiation Therapy Technology program required.
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
New York State Radiologic Technologist License, limited to the practice of Radiotherapy, required.
ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists) membership preferred.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to patient safety.
Experience
Previous clinical experience in radiation therapy preferred.
Experience with modern linear accelerators and treatment planning systems is a plus.
