Position Overview
A large, regional healthcare system in the Florida Panhandle is seeking an experienced Administrative Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple emergency department locations.
This executive-level role oversees both hospital-based and freestanding emergency departments and is responsible for driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and financial performance across all sites.
The organization is actively expanding its emergency services footprint, with additional freestanding emergency departments planned in the near future. A modern electronic medical record (EMR) system is utilized across all facilities.
Scope of Responsibility
Main Emergency Department:
41 beds
Approximately 135 patient visits per day
Freestanding Emergency Departments (3 locations):
Combined volumes up to 135 visits per day
Team Oversight:
Approximately 130 FTEs
Includes 1 Director and 4 Freestanding ED Managers
Key Responsibilities
Provide executive oversight for multi-site emergency department operations
Ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical quality across all locations
Develop and implement patient throughput and capacity planning strategies
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance care delivery
Lead data-driven performance improvement initiatives to improve patient experience
Oversee workforce planning, talent acquisition, staff engagement, and retention
Manage departmental budgets and financial performance across all sites
Standardize policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce variation
Monitor healthcare trends, legislative updates, and market dynamics
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department Director experience in an acute care setting (within the past year)
Strong preference for experience overseeing Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs)
Progressive leadership experience in high-volume, accredited emergency departments (e.g., Chest Pain Center, Stroke Certification, etc.)
