Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech (CWR) to support physicians and the care team during cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiovascular procedures. The Cath Lab Tech will assist with all aspects of invasive cardiac procedures, prepare patients and equipment, and ensure accurate monitoring and imaging throughout each case.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare sterile trays, organize and set up equipment for each procedure.
Prepare patients prior to procedures, including EKG lead placement, scrub, and sterile draping.
Assist Cath Lab nurses in patient preparation and monitoring.
Calibrate and test transducers for accurate hemodynamic readings.
Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angioplasty, atherectomy, stent placement, valvuloplasty, and IVUS.
Operate power injectors and digital cine imaging systems; ensure accurate image storage and retrieval.
Support emergency interventions to restore or maintain patient stability.
Assist with sheath removal and vascular closure device placement.
Maintain and calibrate diagnostic and technical equipment.
Monitor inventory and notify appropriate staff regarding supply needs.
Provide patient-centered care, ensuring communication and support tailored to individual needs (age, culture, language, etc.).
Adhere to organizational standards, policies, and competencies.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab or invasive procedure area within an acute care hospital.
6–12 months of experience during a CVT accredited program or 2 years in another cardiac vascular laboratory.
Proficiency in sterile techniques, hemodynamic monitoring, and Cath Lab scrub procedures.
Strong computer and imaging system familiarity.
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs., push/pull 100 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in a related field.
