O.R. Technician (Certified Surgical Technologist - CST)
Location: New York, NY 10003 Pay Rate: $62–$78/hour Duration: 13–14 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Schedule: 5 Days per Week | 37.5 Hours Weekly Weekend Requirement: No Weekends Required
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Technician (CST) to support a high-volume surgical department. The ideal candidate will have strong scrubbing experience and hands-on expertise in Ophthalmology, ENT, and Plastic Surgery procedures.
This role requires a highly skilled Surgical Technologist who can work closely with surgeons and perioperative teams to ensure safe, efficient, and sterile surgical operations.
Schedule Details
5 Days per Week
Flexible Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (based on OR needs)
No Weekend Requirement
37.5 Hours per Week
Responsibilities
Perform surgical scrub, gowning, and sterile setup procedures
Prepare instruments, trays, and supplies based on surgical case requirements
Assist surgeons by anticipating instrument and supply needs during procedures
Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all surgical cases
Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse
Assist in patient positioning, draping, and transfer procedures
Support OR turnover including cleanup and preparation for next case
Handle and label specimens and medications according to hospital protocols
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with safety and infection control standards
Assist in maintaining OR inventory, equipment readiness, and preference cards
Support circulating nurse with workflow coordination and patient safety
Requirements
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program
Minimum 2 Years of Scrubbing Experience in:
Ophthalmology
ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat)
Plastic Surgery
Strong understanding of aseptic technique and OR protocols
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred
Experience in Hospital-Based Operating Room Settings
Strong knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation
Familiarity with Ophthalmology, ENT, and Plastic Surgery Cases
Ability to maintain focus and precision in high-pressure environments
