Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join a high-performing surgical services team in a leading healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, decontamination processes, instrument assembly, and sterilization methods to ensure the highest level of patient safety and infection control.
Experience Required
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in sterile processing or related field.
Certifications
Candidates must hold at least one of the following certifications:
CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor
CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician)
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
Key Responsibilities
Prep & Handling
Apply aseptic techniques during all stages of instrument handling.
Assemble and organize instrument trays accurately.
Perform case cart preparation and restocking using preference cards.
Label, wrap, and properly store surgical instruments and supplies.
Cleaning & Disinfection
Perform manual cleaning and high-level disinfection of instruments.
Operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and AERs (Automated Endoscope Reprocessors).
Clean pumps, carts, and other clinical equipment as assigned.
Sterilization
Perform sterilization using multiple modalities, including:
Steam sterilization, IUSS (Immediate Use Steam Sterilization), Sterrad, Steris, and Gas (ETO).
Monitor sterilization cycles using biological and chemical indicators.
Scope Reprocessing
Clean, disinfect, and reprocess a variety of scopes, including:
Bronchoscopes, Colonoscopes, Cystoscopes, EGDs, ERCPs, EUS, and TEE probes.
Specialty Areas
Support multiple surgical service lines, including:
General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN, ENT, Cardiac, and Transplant (where applicable).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Minimum 2 years of recent hospital-based sterile processing experience (required).
Strong knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization best practices.
Familiarity with surgical instrumentation across multiple specialties.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
