Responsibilities
Provide respiratory therapy services under medical direction for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions
Perform respiratory assessments, treatments, diagnostic evaluations, and patient monitoring
Assist with intubations and provide ventilator setup, management, and troubleshooting
Gather patient information and collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop care plans
Educate patients and caregivers regarding respiratory conditions and treatment plans
Document patient care and therapy interventions accurately
Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Adhere to departmental policies, safety standards, and organizational protocols
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program required
Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required
Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
Previous ventilator management experience required
Current New Jersey Respiratory Care License required
Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Certification required
Current AHA BLS Certification required
Current ACLS Certification required
Current PALS Certification required
Must be willing to float to Adult ICU, Intermediate Care, and Basic Intermediate Care units
Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout the patient's stay
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies and physician orders
Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences
Conduct nursing psychoeducational groups and patient education sessions
Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies using approved crisis intervention techniques
Maintain a therapeutic milieu and provide care in the least restrictive manner possible
Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and continuity-of-care planning
Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement initiatives
Requirements
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required
Active New Jersey RN License or Compact RN License required
Current AHA BLS Certification required
Minimum 2 years of inpatient behavioral health experience required
Experience caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric behavioral health patients
Experience with psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention
Strong understanding of behavioral health protocols, patient safety, and regulatory standards
Computer proficiency and EMR experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Float Pool experience preferred
