The Surgical Technologist will assist in a variety of cardiovascular surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon and Registered Nurse. This role requires advanced knowledge of sterile technique, infection control standards, and cardiovascular surgical instrumentation to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
Maintain a sterile environment in accordance with hospital policies and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Standards of Practice.
Perform scrub technician duties for cardiovascular and other surgical procedures.
Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
Hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
