Position Overview:
A Registered Nurse Educator plays a vital role in providing education and training to nursing staff, students, and other healthcare professionals. They facilitate the development of nursing knowledge and skills, promote evidence-based practice, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Education Program Development: Develop and implement educational programs and curricula for nursing staff, students, and healthcare professionals. Identify learning needs, design instructional materials, and select appropriate teaching methods and resources.
Nursing Education Delivery: Deliver educational sessions, workshops, and presentations to nursing staff and students. Use various instructional techniques, such as lectures, demonstrations, case studies, simulations, and hands-on practice, to facilitate learning and skill development.
Clinical Competency Assessment: Assess and evaluate the clinical competency of nursing staff through observation, skills assessments, and written or practical examinations. Provide feedback and guidance for professional growth and development.
Curriculum Review and Revision: Review and update educational materials, courses, and curricula to ensure alignment with current nursing practice standards, evidence-based guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Mentorship and Preceptorship: Provide guidance and support to nursing students, new graduates, and less experienced nurses through mentorship and preceptorship programs. Facilitate their transition into clinical practice and promote their professional development.
Collaboration and Professional Development: Collaborate with nursing leadership, clinical educators, and other healthcare professionals to promote a culture of lifelong learning and professional development. Stay abreast of advancements in nursing practice, education, and technology.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of educational activities, participant attendance, and evaluation outcomes. Prepare reports on educational programs, competency assessments, and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant jurisdiction.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher is typically required. Master's degree in Nursing Education or related field is preferred for advanced positions.
Experience as a Registered Nurse, with a strong clinical background in the area of practice relevant to the educational role.
Teaching experience or formal education in instructional design, adult learning principles, or nursing education.
Knowledge of nursing theory, evidence-based practice, and current healthcare trends.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assess learning needs, develop educational programs, and evaluate outcomes.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
