Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Shift: Rotating Day Shifts (6:00 AM – 7:00 PM in various 8-hour blocks)
Schedule: 40 hours per week | Rotating days | Occasional weekends & holidays
Pay Rate: $30 – $33 per hour
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Phlebotomist to support blood collection and donor services. The ideal candidate will play a key role in organizing, recruiting, and performing blood draws to support hospital-based blood supply needs. This position requires a high level of accuracy, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering safe and effective care to donors and patients.
Conduct donor screening and eligibility assessments in compliance with CDC, FDA, AABB, and CAP guidelines
Perform whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures
Collect appropriate specimens from donors and patients as needed
Support blood collection at both fixed sites and mobile blood drives
Accurately prepare, label, and document specimens for laboratory testing
Maintain records, perform data entry, and track deferrals in accordance with quality standards
Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors of inventory needs
Ensure all work areas remain clean, safe, and organized
Deliver exceptional service to donors, patients, staff, and visitors
Assist with donor recruitment efforts and participate in departmental initiatives
Follow all organizational policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations
Basic computer skills
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 90 days of hire
Prior experience in phlebotomy
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program or national certification
Donor Phlebotomy Technician (DPT ASCP) or Qualification in Donor Phlebotomy (QDP ASCP) strongly preferred
Familiarity with blood group/Rh typing and donation procedures
