Laboratory – Donor Care Specialist
Location: Hyannis, MA Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 40 hrs/week, rotating shifts (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM) Includes occasional weekends and holidays Pay Rate: $30 – $32/hr
Position Summary
Provide high-quality donor care by performing phlebotomy procedures, ensuring donor safety, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Screen donors for eligibility and perform blood collections (whole blood and therapeutic phlebotomy)
Conduct collections at the donor center and off-site blood drives
Prepare, label, and handle blood components and specimens
Document donor records and maintain accurate data entry
Assist with donor recruitment and maintain donor care supplies
Ensure clean, safe, and organized work areas
Follow all hospital policies, including safety and emergency procedures
Provide excellent service to donors, patients, and staff
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Prior phlebotomy experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Basic computer skills
Preferred:
National Phlebotomy Certification or completion of an accredited program
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Key Responsibilities
Perform daily screening of new admissions for discharge planning needs
Conduct initial assessments and reassessments using InterQual® criteria

Perform utilization review and evaluate appropriateness of admissions and level of care
Communicate with third-party payers to support reimbursement and ongoing services

Advocate for patients and families regarding care plans and insurance coverage

Required Qualifications
