Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to support comprehensive dental care services in an acute care hospital setting. The Dental Assistant will assist dentists during examinations and procedures, prepare treatment areas, sterilize instruments, perform radiographic procedures, maintain patient records, and help ensure efficient clinical operations.

Schedule

  • Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 5 Days Per Week
  • 37.5 Hours Per Week

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

One of the Following Qualification Pathways

  • Minimum 600 instructional hours from an approved Dental Assistant program, OR
  • Minimum 300 instructional hours from an approved Dental Assistant program plus six (6) months of full-time Dental Assistant experience, OR
  • One (1) year of full-time Dental Assistant experience performing required duties, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience meeting qualification requirements

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Support

  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatment procedures
  • Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures
  • Support patient comfort and maintain efficient patient flow

Instrument & Equipment Management

  • Sterilize instruments and equipment using autoclave procedures
  • Maintain treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure proper infection control practices are followed

Radiography & Laboratory Support

  • Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs
  • Perform assigned dental laboratory procedures
  • Prepare and mix dental materials as needed

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Support departmental quality standards and operational efficiency
