IT Field Support Technician

Position Overview
We are seeking an IT Field Support Technician to provide onsite, hands-on Tier 1 support for airport IT infrastructure, including networking, systems, telephony, and field-deployed technology. This role serves as the "smart hands" resource for senior engineers, supporting hardware installations, troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and equipment replacements across data centers, telecom rooms, and operational airport environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both technical and public-facing areas while ensuring critical systems remain operational.
Responsibilities
Provide first-response, onsite Tier 1 support for network, systems, telephony, and IT hardware issues.
Perform basic troubleshooting of switches, servers, workstations, wireless access points, and cabling infrastructure.
Assist with equipment installations, rack-and-stack activities, patching, labeling, and physical connectivity tasks.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance within MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms, and data centers.
Support ticket resolution by gathering diagnostics, documenting findings, and escalating issues to Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams as needed.
Perform hardware replacements, firmware updates, and basic configuration tasks under engineer direction.
Conduct field checks and support for wireless systems, cameras, digital signage, and other operational technologies.
Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) for endpoints, peripherals, and infrastructure equipment.
Traverse terminal environments to identify, correct, and report technology issues impacting operations or customer experience.
Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, inventory updates, and field service activities.
Follow established safety protocols and operational procedures while working in secure and public airport environments.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
1–3 years of experience providing IT support or hands-on technical field services.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, and structured cabling.
Understanding of Windows and Linux fundamentals.
Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, peripherals, and endpoint devices.
Ability to perform physical equipment installations, hardware handling, and cabling tasks.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work in data centers, telecom rooms, and operational airport environments.
Ability to work onsite and support mission-critical IT operations.
