Job Title: Medical Records Coordinator

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Compensation: $18.00/Hour (W2)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Records Coordinator to support clinical services operations. In this role, you will be responsible for patient registration, payment collection, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

As one of the first points of contact for patients, you will play a key role in creating a positive experience and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately register patients in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Collect and process patient payments according to established procedures.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update electronic medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Gather, verify, and document patient demographic and medical information.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate customer service to patients and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Assist with general administrative and clerical duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience registering patients using an electronic medical records system in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong computer, typing, and data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Note: A combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience gathering patient information and creating medical records.
  • Cashiering or cash-handling experience.
  • Certification as a Public Health Worker or Community Health Worker from an accredited institution, or current enrollment in a qualifying program with the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
