Registered Dietitian – Inpatient / Critical Care

Location: Syracuse, NY

Pay Rate: $69 - $78/hr (Depending on Experience)

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Job Summary

The Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) provides comprehensive inpatient nutrition services for patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. The Dietitian is responsible for performing nutritional assessments, developing individualized nutrition care plans, managing nutrition support therapies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes and reduce complications associated with malnutrition.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient clinical dietitian experience preferred

  • Experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in an acute care hospital setting

  • Strong knowledge of malnutrition assessment and intervention

  • Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition support

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric nutrition experience

  • Critical Care / ICU nutrition experience

  • CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) certification preferred

  • Experience working with diverse patient populations across the lifespan

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nutritional assessments for inpatient populations

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans

  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)

  • Assess and diagnose malnutrition using approved screening tools

  • Manage enteral and parenteral nutrition therapies

  • Monitor and adjust nutrition support plans based on patient needs and laboratory findings

  • Recommend therapeutic diets, supplements, and texture modifications

  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and families

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare teams

  • Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and progress in the EMR

  • Participate in quality improvement and performance initiatives

  • Attend interdisciplinary rounds and patient care meetings

  • Support evidence-based nutrition practices and regulatory compliance
