Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Rochester, NY

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 3x12 Evening/Night Rotation (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM / 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)

Job Summary

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of emergency and trauma-related conditions. The RN is responsible for rapid assessment, triage, treatment coordination, critical interventions, and ongoing patient monitoring in a fast-paced emergency department environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong emergency nursing experience, critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage high-acuity patients effectively.

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License required.

  • Current AHA BLS Certification required.

  • Current AHA ACLS Certification required.

  • Current NIHSS Certification required.

  • Minimum recent Emergency Department experience required.

  • Experience with EPIC EMR required.

  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills.

  • Experience with ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, and IV vasopressors.

  • Trauma, stroke, and emergency care experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, prioritize, and provide emergency nursing care to patients of varying acuity levels.

  • Perform triage assessments and initiate appropriate interventions.

  • Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and emergency treatments.

  • Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms and emergency response situations.

  • Provide care for trauma, stroke, orthopedic, neurological, and medical emergency patients.

  • Manage ventilated patients and respiratory support therapies.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

  • Follow infection control, isolation, and patient safety protocols.

  • Float to appropriate units based on patient care needs and skillset.
