Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Emergency Department (Peds ED)

Location: Syracuse, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Pediatric Emergency Department assignment. This position is ideal for nurses with dedicated Pediatric ED experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity emergency care environment.

Important: Candidates must have the majority of their recent emergency department experience in a dedicated Pediatric ED. Candidates whose experience is primarily in combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Departments will not be considered. Adult ED experience is a plus when accompanied by substantial Pediatric ED experience.

Schedule

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• Every Other Weekend Required
• Holiday coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active New York State RN License/Registration
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent Pediatric Emergency Department experience (within the last 2 years)
• Experience in an acute care hospital of similar size and acuity
• Formal triage training required
• Strong pediatric triage skills required
• Travelers must have experience in hospitals of equal or greater size or trauma centers

Preferred Qualifications

• Level I Trauma Center experience
• Level II Trauma Center experience
• EPIC EMR experience
• Additional Adult Emergency Department experience

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pediatric emergency nursing assessments.
• Triage pediatric patients and prioritize care based on acuity.
• Deliver emergency nursing care with minimal supervision.
• Monitor and assess patient condition changes and intervene appropriately.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary emergency care teams.
• Document patient care accurately within the EMR system.
• Provide patient and family education and support during emergency visits.
