Shift & Schedule: Days | Rotating Weekends | Leadership Schedule

Position Overview:

The RN Manager – Labor & Delivery is responsible for overseeing the clinical staff and daily operations of the Family Care Services Unit. Working under the direction of nursing leadership, the Manager provides leadership, operational oversight, quality management, staff development, and fiscal accountability. This role collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered maternal and newborn care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Labor & Delivery and Family Care Services Unit.

  • Manage staff scheduling, employee rounding, and patient rounding activities.

  • Support and mentor Charge Nurses with patient admissions, discharges, and care coordination.

  • Interview, hire, onboard, and retain qualified nursing staff.

  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and develop staff learning plans.

  • Provide coaching, counseling, and performance management support.

  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure staff competency development and ongoing education.

  • Monitor patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, hospital policies, and nursing standards.

  • Assist with departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and supply management.

  • Conduct quality audits and monitor performance metrics.

  • Foster strong physician relationships and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.

  • Active New Hampshire RN License or Compact RN License.

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Minimum 3–7 years of Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital setting.

  • Minimum 3–7 years of Labor & Delivery leadership or management experience.

  • Experience managing staff, operations, quality initiatives, and patient satisfaction metrics.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • Additional Women's Services certifications.

  • Experience with performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
