Job Title: LPN / LVN – Correctional Nursing

Location: Rome, NY

Contract Duration: 26–52 Weeks

Position Overview:

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide healthcare services within a correctional facility setting. The LPN will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and be responsible for medication administration, health screenings, patient assessments, emergency response, and clinical documentation while maintaining compliance with correctional healthcare standards and facility security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications, including controlled substances, and monitor compliance

  • Take vital signs and perform patient assessments

  • Conduct health screenings and monitor inmate health conditions

  • Provide wound care and basic nursing treatments

  • Respond to medical emergencies within the facility

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

  • Monitor changes in patient conditions and report findings to healthcare providers

  • Follow correctional healthcare policies and security procedures

  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure quality patient care

  • Maintain a safe and professional clinical environment

Requirements:

  • Active New York State LPN License (or valid limited permit)

  • Experience in medical-surgical, ambulatory care, correctional health, or mental health preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies

  • Comfortable working with a diverse patient population

  • Ability to comply with all correctional facility regulations and security procedures

  • Candidates must complete and clear the state criminal history process prior to start

  • Criminal history clearance may take up to 4 weeks
