Job Title: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg (Travel Contract)

Location: New York, NY

Contract Duration: 18 Weeks (Temp-to-Hire)

Schedule:

  • Night Shift
  • 3x11.5-Hour Shifts
  • 07:30 PM – 08:00 AM
  • 34.5 Hours per Week

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse for an 18-week travel assignment in a high-acuity acute care hospital in New York City. This role involves providing comprehensive bedside nursing care for medical-surgical patients, including pre- and post-operative cases, while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have strong recent Med/Surg experience in large hospital settings, along with excellent clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct bedside care for medical-surgical patients
  • Perform full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses
  • Provide wound care, IV therapy, infection prevention, and post-op care
  • Initiate and manage IV access, catheters, and medical equipment
  • Monitor vital signs and telemetry readings
  • Identify and respond to changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and care teams on treatment and discharge planning
  • Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Follow hospital safety, infection control, and nursing standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
  • Recent Med/Surg experience within the last year required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Active New York State RN License required
  • AHA BLS Certification required
  • AHA ACLS required (for Queens-based assignments)
  • Strong clinical assessment, IV therapy, wound care, and telemetry skills
  • Ability to work in high-acuity acute care environments
