Schedule

  • Day Shift
  • 5x8-Hour Shifts
  • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 40 Guaranteed Hours per Week

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $30 – $32/hour
    Compensation based on experience.

Position Overview

A healthcare facility in Long Beach, California is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity. The technician will be responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble complex surgical instruments according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Assemble and package instrument trays accurately for surgical procedures
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, autoclaves, and related processing equipment safely and efficiently
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
  • Document missing, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment
  • Maintain sterilization records, inventory levels, and processing documentation
  • Follow infection control protocols, ANSI/AAMI standards, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
  • Collaborate effectively with operations, distribution staff, and healthcare teams

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician required (CRCST, CIS, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience required
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization methods, and infection control practices required
  • Experience operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and sterilization equipment required
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs preferred

  • Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance focus
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and SOPs
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
