Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Medical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dedicated oncology care team in Hilo, Hawaii. The ideal candidate will have strong chemotherapy administration experience, infusion therapy expertise, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced oncology environment.

This role requires excellent patient education skills, proficiency with central line management, and strong knowledge of chemotherapy safety protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal/non-hormonal injections according to provider orders
  • Access and maintain Port-a-Caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters
  • Perform venipuncture, dressing changes, and laboratory specimen collection via central lines
  • Monitor patients during IV therapies and document responses accurately in the EMR
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records related to treatments, medications, and patient conditions
  • Notify oncology providers of unusual patient occurrences and initiate emergency interventions when necessary
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding medications, side effects, treatment expectations, nutrition, and disease processes
  • Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration
  • Follow proper handling, administration, and disposal procedures for hazardous medications while using appropriate PPE
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols, infection control standards, and facility policies
  • Perform additional clinical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Recent Medical Oncology RN experience required
  • Strong chemotherapy administration experience required
  • Experience with Port-a-Caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters required
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • Strong patient education and communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced oncology setting
