Location: Houston, TX 77024
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Day Shift (08:00 AM – 05:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $28 – $30 per hour


Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Medical Coder to join our team. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for billing, reporting, research, and compliance purposes. The ideal candidate will have strong outpatient coding experience and a solid understanding of coding guidelines and regulatory standards.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree in a healthcare or medical-related field preferred

Certifications (one required):

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Certified Medical Coder (CMC)
  • Certified Coding Associate (CCA)

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience required
  • Experience with E/M coding required
  • Neurosurgery or Neurology coding experience preferred
  • At least 6 months of HCC coding experience preferred
  • Familiarity with EPIC systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and modifiers
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Apply knowledge of APC reimbursement methodologies
  • Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed
  • Maintain high standards aligned with ethical coding practices
  • Support departmental goals, quality standards, and productivity expectations
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development
  • Serve as a mentor or resource for junior team members as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
