Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior COBOL Developer with strong expertise in mainframe technologies and government taxation systems. This role involves the design, development, maintenance, and support of complex tax accounting applications in a large-scale enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex tax accounting systems
• Provide end-user support and troubleshoot production issues
• Perform application performance analysis and tuning
• Work with large-scale databases and optimize queries
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system functionality
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with standards

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

• 7+ years (84 months) of experience with a Government Taxation organization, including:
  • Technical design, development, maintenance, and support of tax systems
• 7+ years of COBOL programming in an IBM Mainframe environment
• 3+ years (36 months) experience with IBM DB2 for LUW, including:
  • Working with large databases (1TB+)
  • Use of XQuery
• 7+ years of experience with:
  • IDMS & DMLO
  • CICS (Customer Information Control System)
  • IBM DB2 for z/OS (complex database structures)
  • IBM MQ Series
  • MVS / JCL
  • TSO (Time Sharing Option)
• 7+ years of experience in:
  • Application performance analysis and tuning

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in large government or public sector environments
• Strong understanding of legacy system modernization
• Ability to work independently on complex system enhancements
