Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in a critical care environment. This role requires strong clinical expertise in ventilator management, airway support, and respiratory therapies within high-acuity settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver respiratory therapy treatments to adult and geriatric patients.
  • Manage ventilators, including setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and weaning.
  • Perform airway management procedures such as extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care.
  • Administer respiratory medications via various delivery systems (nebulizers, inhalers, aerosol setups).
  • Provide oxygen therapy including high-flow nasal cannula and trach collar systems.
  • Monitor patient response and adjust treatments accordingly.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams in critical care settings.
  • Document patient care using systems such as Epic Systems.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Night shifts (12-hour shifts)
  • Full-time schedule (3 shifts per week)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating may be required based on facility needs

Patient Population

  • Adults and Geriatrics
  • Critical care and trauma patients

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license (state-specific, required at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic Systems
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Clinical Skills

  • Adult critical care respiratory support
  • Ventilator management and weaning
  • Airway management (extubation, tracheostomy care, suctioning)
  • Oxygen therapy (high-flow nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP)
  • Medication administration including bronchodilators, steroids, and aerosol therapies
  • Nebulizer systems (handheld, T-piece, trach collar)
