Location: Santa Rosa, CA 95405
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift (Saturday – Thursday)
Hours: 40 hours/week (5x8)
Shift Timing: 11:00 PM – 08:30 AM


Position Summary

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is an experienced Histology Technician to support an acute care laboratory setting. The role involves preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation, performing grossing and histology procedures, and ensuring specimen integrity and accuracy for pathologist review.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tissue specimens for histological examination
  • Perform grossing of surgical and pathological specimens following lab protocols
  • Process, embed, section, and stain tissue samples
  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment
  • Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, and tracking
  • Evaluate slides for technical quality prior to pathologist review
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and documentation
  • Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and compliance standards
  • Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and manage laboratory supplies
  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely turnaround
  • Maintain specimen integrity throughout all stages of processing

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Histology experience required
  • Strong grossing experience required (mandatory)
  • Acute care or hospital laboratory experience required
  • California state license preferred (pending license accepted)
  • First-time travelers accepted (strong experience preferred)
  • Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of histology techniques (processing, embedding, microtomy)
  • High attention to detail and specimen accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in a night shift environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and compliance standards
  • Team-oriented approach in a clinical laboratory setting
