Job Title: Credentialing Specialist
Location: New York, NY
Job Type: Contract
Shift: Day Shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist to manage and facilitate all aspects of provider credentialing and re-credentialing. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining accurate and up-to-date provider records.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, knowledge of credentialing processes, and experience working within a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of provider credentialing and re-credentialing
  • Conduct primary source verification for new and existing providers
  • Maintain and update provider files, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor credentialing applications and track progress through completion
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards
  • Utilize credentialing software (e.g., MDStaff) to manage data and documentation
  • Perform credential audits and support clinical privileging processes
  • Track and ensure timely renewal of provider licenses and certifications
  • Maintain data integrity within credentialing systems and databases
  • Generate reports and utilize system alerts for tracking and follow-up
  • Provide backup support for credentialing team members as needed

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience as a Credentialing Specialist in a healthcare setting (required)
  • Experience credentialing healthcare providers (physicians, allied health professionals, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of credentialing processes, compliance standards, and regulations
  • Experience with credentialing software (MDStaff preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
