Job Summary:

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TOD/DHH) to provide specialized instructional services to students with hearing impairments. The ideal candidate will assess student needs, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with educators, families, and support staff to promote academic achievement and communication development. This role requires strong instructional expertise, knowledge of hearing loss and communication strategies, and a commitment to inclusive education.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in both individual and group settings
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Conduct academic, communication, and social development assessments
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers
  • Support the use of assistive listening devices and related educational technology
  • Adapt instructional materials and curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff and families on hearing loss and communication strategies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with educational standards
  • Advocate for inclusive practices and appropriate accommodations for students

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Valid New Jersey State certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities preferred
  • Understanding of IEP development, special education regulations, and compliance standards
  • Experience with assistive listening technologies (e.g., FM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
