Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – PICU
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks (with possibility of extension)
Shift: 36–48 hours/week | Days/Nights (3x12 or 4x12)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with primary responsibilities in Labor & Delivery (L&D). This role requires strong neonatal and pediatric respiratory care experience, along with the ability to adapt to multiple patient care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in PICU and L&D settings
  • Perform patient assessments and administer respiratory therapies and treatments
  • Manage ventilators and other respiratory support equipment
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with resuscitation procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Float to PICU and Pediatric Acute Care units as required

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Active Indiana State Respiratory Therapist license (required at submission)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NBRC
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (required for L&D; may be obtained after offer if not currently held)

Preferred:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC
  • Program must also hold regional accreditation recognized by CHEA

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of NICU experience
  • Must have recent Children’s Hospital experience within the last 3 years
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D) required
  • Open to candidates with experience in Level 1 adult facilities
  • Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills
  • Ability to work effectively in high-acuity environments
