Shift: Day/Night (5x8)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced outpatient setting, while ensuring a positive and efficient patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
  • Administer medications and injections as directed
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EMR/EHR systems
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow
  • Communicate with patients for follow-ups, education, and care instructions
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and compliant with safety standards
  • Support billing, coding, and insurance verification processes as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) through NHA or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Epic preferred)

Required Skills

  • Administering medications and injections (including intramuscular)
  • Blood glucose testing via glucometer
  • Venipuncture and specimen labeling
  • Vital signs monitoring (height, weight, pulse oximetry)
  • 12-lead EKG/ECG administration
  • Immunizations and nebulizer treatments
  • Dressing changes, wound care, and suture removal
  • Ear lavage and hearing/vision screening
  • Assisting with Pap smears and pregnancy testing
  • Urinalysis (UA), clean catch, dipstick testing
  • Stool and strep testing
  • Telephone triage and follow-up calls
  • Patient rooming and documentation (history, medications, allergies)
  • Insurance verification and authorization forms
  • Pharmacy coordination and refill requests
