Job Title: Facilities Technician

Location: Elmhurst, IL
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Schedule: Night Shift | 40 Hours/Week

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Facilities Technician to support the maintenance and operation of building systems in a healthcare or industrial environment. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting facility issues, and ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

Building Systems & Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, potential failures, and safety concerns
  • Complete basic repairs including lighting, minor leaks, filter changes, and equipment adjustments
  • Assist in monitoring building automation systems and report any alarms or irregularities

Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Respond promptly to maintenance work orders to minimize operational disruptions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine facility issues; escalate complex problems as needed
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and after-hours on-call rotation if required

Facility Upkeep & Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of mechanical rooms, maintenance areas, and storage spaces
  • Perform general facility upkeep including minor carpentry, painting, and hardware repairs
  • Support third-party vendors and contractors during service visits

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Accurately document inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs in work order systems
  • Track inventory of tools, supplies, and replacement parts
  • Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance processes, safety practices, and facility performance

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and leadership

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1–2 years of facilities or maintenance experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
