Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
Department: Ambulatory Surgery – Operating Room
Employment Type: Contract (40 Hours/Week, 13 Weeks Duration)

Schedule

  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Schedule: 4 Days/Week (4x10)
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • Holiday Requirement: None
  • On-Call Requirement: None
  • Float Requirement: Within perioperative services as needed

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room is responsible for delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves applying the nursing process to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.

The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, maintains accurate clinical documentation, and supports optimal patient outcomes in an ambulatory surgery setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process in the care of surgical patients in the operating room
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care, interventions, and outcomes
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses during and after surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare team members
  • Maintain a sterile and safe operating room environment
  • Supervise and support non-nursing staff within the OR
  • Adhere to all clinical, regulatory, and safety standards

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State license or compact license)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association

Required Skills

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Ability to develop and implement effective care plans
  • Proficiency in perioperative nursing practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
