Shift Details

• Mid Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Required as needed

Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapy Aide (MHT) provides direct and indirect patient care in a behavioral health setting, supporting patients with daily activities, therapeutic interactions, and maintaining a safe environment under the supervision of nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care in an acute behavioral health setting
• Record vital signs and monitor patient intake/output
• Complete patient admission documentation
• Assist with physical exams and specimen collection
• Support patient hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Transport patients as needed
• Orient new patients to unit routines and guidelines
• Observe, document, and report patient behavior and responses
• Develop therapeutic relationships and engage patients in activities
• Intervene during crisis situations following established protocols
• Perform routine safety checks to ensure a secure environment
• Collaborate with nursing staff and care team members
• Participate in unit operations and patient care activities

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of behavioral health/psychiatric experience
• CPR Certification (active)
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience
• Pediatric behavioral health experience
