Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and attentive Patient Sitter / Observer to provide continuous 1:1 observation for patients in both emergency and inpatient settings. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety and preventing harm through constant monitoring and timely reporting.

Key Requirements:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Ability to maintain continuous visual observation of assigned patient
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
• First-time travelers accepted

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 direct observation with uninterrupted line of sight at all times
• Monitor patient behavior and identify signs of escalation or distress
• Report any concerns immediately to nursing staff or security
• Document patient behavior every 15 minutes, including any interventions
• Ensure patient safety in both Emergency Department (ED) and inpatient units

Important Guidelines:

• Must remain fully attentive at all times while on duty
• No distractions allowed, including:
  • Cell phone use
  • Reading
  • Studying or homework
  • Sleeping
• Must be relieved by another staff member before leaving patient observation
