Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server)
Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite per Week)
Duration: 12 Months
"Navitas Partners, LLC" is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support mission-critical enterprise systems, including statewide case management platforms, data warehouse environments, and reporting systems.
This role focuses on advanced database administration, performance optimization, security, and data governance across complex SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring high availability, data integrity, and compliance while supporting large-scale reporting and analytics initiatives.
Administer and maintain SQL Server environments (2016 and above) across multiple systems
Configure and manage SQL Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and indexing strategies
Monitor and optimize performance for large-scale transactional and reporting databases
Troubleshoot and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and long-running queries
Analyze and tune stored procedures, dynamic SQL, CTE-heavy queries, and cross-database operations
Implement partitioning strategies and optimize large datasets
Design, implement, and validate backup and restore strategies
Support high availability configurations (Always On, clustering)
Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans
Enforce referential integrity and data consistency across systems
Perform data remediation, cleanup, and identity reseeding
Support enterprise-wide data standardization initiatives (codes, mappings, classifications)
Collaborate on data quality validation processes
Optimize ETL processes and data loading strategies
Enhance performance for reporting queries and dashboards (e.g., Power BI)
Develop indexed views, aggregation tables, and incremental load processes
Implement and maintain database security best practices
Manage authentication models and role-based access controls
Monitor audit logs and security events
Ensure compliance with data governance and confidentiality standards
Support secure application traffic visibility (e.g., WAF integrations such as Imperva)
Develop and maintain scripts for deployment, migrations, and schema changes
Support CI/CD pipelines and version control integration
Create reusable scripts for administrative tasks (security audits, password rotation, multi-database updates)
7+ years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration
3+ years of experience in performance tuning and optimization
3+ years of experience supporting data integrity and governance
3+ years of experience with data warehouse architecture and reporting systems
3+ years of experience in database security and compliance
3+ years of experience with automation and DevOps practices
Experience in government, judicial, or public sector environments
Experience optimizing backend queries for Power BI or similar reporting tools
Familiarity with .NET application data access patterns
Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups
Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools
Experience working with legacy data structures across distributed environments
Hybrid schedule with 2 days onsite per week in Columbia
Collaborative environment working with developers, analysts, and infrastructure teams
