The Ultrasound Technologist performs or assists in ultrasound examinations, provides technical support to the Radiologist, and ensures proper maintenance and care of ultrasound equipment.
Prepare and examine patients for ultrasound procedures by verifying identity and following established protocols.
Obtain and review patient medical history and assess ability to tolerate procedures.
Ensure exams align with clinical history and notify physicians of any contraindications.
Operate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment while ensuring patient and staff safety.
Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff; explain procedures and address general questions.
Develop and adapt procedure plans based on patient condition, age, and gender considerations.
Perform exams under physician supervision, optimizing image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
Analyze sonographic findings and perform required measurements and calculations per established guidelines.
Minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy without compromising exam quality.
Notify appropriate personnel in case of urgent medical findings.
Evaluate patient condition prior to discharge.
Record and document diagnostic images and provide preliminary summaries to the Radiologist.
Maintain adequate supplies and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
Assist in training and mentoring new ultrasound staff.
Support administrative tasks such as answering calls, scheduling exams, and arranging patient transport.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
Strong knowledge of office and administrative practices
Skilled in using computers and relevant software
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
