Location: Tucson, AZ
Duration: Contract
Schedule:

  • Monday–Thursday: 7:45 AM – 3:45 PM (30-minute lunch)

  • Friday: 7:45 AM – 1:15 PM

  • Total Weekly Hours: 37.5

Pay Rate: $20 – $29 per hour (based on experience)


Position Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to support the delivery of speech and language therapy services. This role involves assisting students in developing communication skills, implementing therapy plans, and supporting both clinical and classroom activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the SLP in providing speech and language therapy services

  • Conduct speech and language screenings using established protocols (no interpretation)

  • Implement therapy plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as directed

  • Work directly with students to improve communication, language, and pre-language skills

  • Support development of oral-motor skills, speech production, and vocalization

  • Assist with the use of assistive communication devices and technology

  • Track and document student progress and report to the supervising SLP

  • Support assessments by preparing materials and providing clerical assistance

  • Organize and maintain therapy materials and equipment

  • Adapt instructional materials based on student needs under supervision

  • Maintain accurate records, including data collection and reports

  • Assist with classroom activities and organization of educational materials


Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field

  • Active SLPA license in the state of Arizona

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively with children with speech and language disorders

  • Basic knowledge of therapy techniques and assistive technology


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of SLPA experience (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply)

  • Experience in a school or special education setting
