Test Software Engineer – AR Prototypes

Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract

Position Overview

A leading technology organization is seeking a Test Software Engineer to support development and testing of Augmented Reality (AR) prototype devices.

This role involves hands-on work with hardware and software systems, focusing on troubleshooting, automation, and integration testing across Android and Linux-based environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Android and Linux-based prototype devices using:

  • ADB

  • Serial consoles

  • Log analysis tools

• Develop and maintain Python-based tools for:

  • Calibration workflows

  • Integration testing

  • Device bring-up processes

• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering teams to diagnose and resolve issues across the full technology stack.

• Perform deep debugging and root cause analysis for system-level issues.

• Support testing and validation of AR prototype systems.

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience (or equivalent internships/projects)

• Strong experience with:

  • Python (scripting, automation, basic data processing)

  • Linux environments (command line, SSH, basic system administration)

• Hands-on experience working with physical hardware/devices

• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Must-Have Skills

• Python scripting and automation

• Linux command-line proficiency and system usage

• Strong debugging mindset with focus on root cause analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Android devices (ADB, logcat, shell commands)

• Familiarity with 6DoF robotic systems

• Experience with modern C++

• Exposure to AR/VR devices or embedded systems

• Experience with version control systems such as Git, Buck, or Mercurial

Work Environment

• 100% Onsite role in Redmond, WA

• Hands-on interaction with prototype hardware devices

• Collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment
