Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder with experience in outpatient E/M coding and Neurology/Neurosurgery. The role involves reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and modifier codes to support billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and modifier codes for outpatient encounters
Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to ensure coding accuracy and completeness
Apply official coding guidelines and compliance standards (AHIMA, regulatory bodies)
Utilize knowledge of APC reimbursement methodologies
Perform data abstraction and entry for reporting and compliance purposes
Communicate with providers to clarify documentation and submit coding queries
Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical coding standards
Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals
Mentor and assist less experienced coding staff as needed
Maintain productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time expectations
Required Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED – Required
Associate Degree in a medical-related field – Preferred
Certifications (One Required):
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
CMC (Certified Medical Coder)
CCA (Certified Coding Associate)
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of outpatient E/M coding experience (Required)
Experience coding Neurology/Neurosurgery (Preferred)
At least 6 months of HCC coding experience (Preferred)
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and modifiers
Familiarity with APC reimbursement methodologies
Experience with EPIC EMR (Preferred)
Core Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and coding accuracy
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and coding guidelines
Excellent communication and query skills with providers
Ability to work independently and manage productivity goals
Commitment to ethical coding standards and continuous learning
