Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: St. Johnsbury, VT
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day (3x12-Hour Shifts)
Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM


Compensation:

  • Weekly Gross Pay: $1,800 – $2,000 (based on experience)


Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive patient care in a dynamic acute care setting. This role primarily focuses on adult patients, with occasional exposure to pediatric cases. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, patient-focused, and skilled in managing diverse clinical needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care across medical, surgical, outpatient, observation, swing bed, and limited pediatric services

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

  • Address patients’ physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and developmental needs

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

  • Work under the guidance of unit leadership and alongside clinical nurse leads

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation


Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • Active Vermont RN License (or Compact License)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)


Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of acute care experience

  • Strong background in adult Medical-Surgical nursing


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Meditech EMR

  • Exposure to orthopedic (Ortho) patient care

  • Basic pediatric care experience (not pediatric-only candidates)


Specialty Requirements:

  • Med-Surg Adult

  • Med-Surg Orthopedics

  • Ability to manage occasional pediatric cases


Work Environment:

  • Acute care hospital setting with a diverse patient population

  • Collaborative, team-oriented environment

  • Requires adaptability across multiple care settings


Additional Notes:

  • This is not a dedicated pediatric unit; strong adult care experience is required
