Shift Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (45-minute break)

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a qualified Travel Pathologist Assistant / Pathology Technician to support surgical pathology operations within a hospital laboratory setting. This role is ideal for professionals with New York State licensure and hands-on experience in pathology laboratories. The selected candidate will assist with specimen handling, gross examination, and support pathology staff in the gross room while ensuring accurate specimen processing and documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform gross examination and dissection of large and complex surgical specimens

  • Conduct gross examination and dissection of small biopsy specimens

  • Prepare tissues for histological processing and ensure proper specimen fixation

  • Document macroscopic descriptions of anatomical findings

  • Perform specimen accessioning, receipt, and labeling

  • Section surgical pathology specimens as required

  • Review patient clinical information, including imaging, lab results, and reports

  • Perform gross and microscopic photography when required

  • Support radiography procedures within the pathology workflow

  • Assist in training pathology residents on gross room procedures and techniques

  • Maintain accurate specimen processing and ensure adherence to laboratory protocols


Required Qualifications

  • New York State (NYS) Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a Pathologist Assistant program, NAACLS-accredited program, or an equivalent program approved by the NYS Education Department

  • 0–3 years of experience in pathology or surgical pathology settings


Preferred Qualifications

  • ASCP Certification (PA)

  • FAAPA – Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists Assistants

  • Experience with specimen accessioning and surgical pathology workflows
