Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a background in Intermediate Care or Intensive Care to provide high-quality patient care in a Surgical Step Down / IMC unit. The RN will monitor patients requiring close observation and frequent interventions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex medical, surgical, trauma, and neurological conditions.

Shift & Scheduling

• Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts

• Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period

• Call Off Policy: Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum RN Experience: 2 years required

• Travel Experience: At least one completed travel assignment required

• Critical Care Experience: ICU / IICU experience required with patient acuity of 1:3 ratio

• First-time Travelers: Accepted with 3+ years specialty experience and critical care background

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Active South Carolina RN License or Multistate Compact License

• BLS – Basic Life Support

• ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

• NIHSS – National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Surgical Step Down / Intermediate Care

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3

• Patient Population: Adult patients including trauma, medical, surgical, and neurological cases requiring monitoring or interventions every 1–2 hours

• Patients may include:

  • Direct admissions

  • Transfers from ICU

  • Rapid Response Team escalations

Required Clinical Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation

• Dysrhythmia recognition and management

• Emergency response procedures

• Ventilator management and monitoring

• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive medications

• Progressive care nursing (PCU, IMC, Stepdown, or DOU experience accepted)

Equipment & Systems

• Electronic Medical Record: Epic (minimum 1 year experience required)

• Patient Handling Equipment: Hercules repositioners, ceiling lifts, Airtaps
