Compensation

  • Travel Weekly Pay: $2,000 – $2,100 (based on experience)

  • Local Pay Rate: $50 – $52 per hour

  • Estimated Local Weekly Pay: $1,725 – $1,794

Position Summary

A healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to support the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. The nurse will provide direct patient care to individuals aged 5–17 years, assisting the clinical team in delivering high-quality behavioral health services in an acute care environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing and strong communication skills to effectively work with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a child and adolescent behavioral health unit

  • Perform routine clinical tasks including monitoring and recording vital signs and patient progress

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during procedures

  • Set up trays for injections and assist with routine treatments

  • Escort and direct patients to exam rooms while ensuring comfort and safety

  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and chart preparation

  • Assist with administrative duties including appointment scheduling and reception support

  • Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain authorizations for procedures and services

  • Communicate with primary care physicians to obtain referrals or referral extensions for patients

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean clinical environment

  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) License

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience

  • Experience working with children and adolescents preferred

  • Prior inpatient healthcare experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Required Certifications

  • CPR/BLS Certification through the American Heart Association
