Schedule: 36 Hours Guaranteed Weekly (36 GWW)

Compensation

  • Weekly Gross Pay: $2,100 – $2,300 (Based on experience)

Position Summary

A healthcare facility in Columbia, Missouri is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for the Float Pool on the night shift. The RN will provide patient-centered care across multiple medical-surgical units while maintaining high clinical standards in a fast-paced acute care environment.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable floating between different Med-Surg specialties and caring for adult and geriatric patient populations while managing multiple clinical conditions and equipment.

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Float Pool

  • Unit Size: 32 Beds

  • Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:

  • Standard Ratio: 1:6

  • May increase to 1:8 when required

Floating Requirement

Nurses may float to multiple Medical-Surgical specialty units, including:

  • Cardiology

  • General Medicine

  • Orthopedics

  • Surgical Units

  • Neurology

  • Oncology

Monitoring:

  • Remote Telemetry Monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical patients across multiple specialty units

  • Monitor patient condition and report changes to physicians and care teams

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments according to physician orders

  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care

  • Ensure adherence to patient safety, infection control, and hospital policies

Required Clinical Skills

Line Management

  • Peripheral IV insertion

  • PICC line and central line management

  • Vascular access device care and maintenance

Orthopedic / Med-Surg / Oncology Skills

  • Traction care

  • CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine management

  • Epidural and PCA pump monitoring

  • Feeding tube management

  • Wound VAC care

Cardiac Skills

  • Remote telemetry monitoring

  • Basic telemetry rhythm interpretation

Airway Management

  • CPAP / BiPAP support

  • Tracheostomy (Trach) care

Common Equipment Used

  • IV infusion pumps

  • Telemetry monitoring systems

  • SCDs (Sequential Compression Devices)

  • PCA pumps

  • Patient lifts

  • Gait belts

  • CO₂ monitoring equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Minimum 1–2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience

  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and acute care environments

  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
