The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients across the lifespan, from infants to the elderly. The role includes supporting routine clinic visits as well as after-hours urgent and emergent care.
The RN applies the nursing process to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, independent decision-making, and the ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.
The RN collaborates closely with physicians, healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Assess, observe, and interpret patient conditions.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers.
Deliver nursing interventions and evaluate patient outcomes.
Accurately document patient observations, treatments, and care coordination activities.
Administer medications and therapeutic treatments as ordered.
Perform triage for patients requesting urgent or non-routine appointments.
Recognize and respond to critical symptoms and medical emergencies.
Maintain sterile and aseptic clinical environments.
Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient care coordination.
Nursing staff assist with:
Phlebotomy
Laboratory specimen testing and documentation
Instrument quality assurance and quality improvement (QA/QI)
Proficiency testing and specimen shipping
Responsibilities include:
Pulmonary function testing
Peak flow testing
12-lead EKGs
Nebulizer treatments
Oxygen therapy
Responsibilities include:
Registering and editing x-rays in radiology systems
Taking and transferring radiology images
Cleaning and maintaining radiology equipment
Documenting all radiology studies
Assist referral care coordinators.
Collaborate with providers to develop patient care plans.
Support coordination of multidisciplinary outpatient services.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Alaska or another U.S. state
Candidates hired without an Alaska license must apply for Alaska RN licensure prior to start date
BSN, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing
High School Diploma or equivalent
BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association
ACLS and PALS required within 1 year of hire
Clinical Competency Certification within 3 months of hire (renewed every 3 years)
High-Risk Competency Certification within 3 months of hire (renewed annually)
Limited Radiology Course (provided by employer)
Required
6 months ambulatory health nursing experience, and
1 year general nursing experience after completing BSN
OR
2 years general nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
Preferred
Experience in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing
Professional nursing principles and clinical procedures
Pharmaceuticals, side effects, and drug interactions
Medical and psychosocial disorders
Advanced nursing care techniques
Operating specialized medical equipment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient assessment and monitoring
Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff

Identify adverse patient symptoms and respond appropriately
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and hand use
Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs
