Job Title: Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist (CST)

Duration: 9 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift: Night Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:15 AM
Schedule: 5 days per week (varied schedule)
Local Pay: $1,900 – $2,200 per week
Travel Pay: $2,600 – $2,700 per week (based on experience)
A healthcare facility in Manhattan, NY is seeking a skilled Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist (CST) for a short-term contract assignment. The Surgical Technologist will assist in operating room procedures, primarily supporting Labor & Delivery surgical cases, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and surgical team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Labor & Delivery or operating room environments, strong knowledge of sterile techniques, and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
Perform scrub duties in accordance with established surgical and aseptic guidelines
Prepare sterile instrument tables and surgical supplies based on procedure requirements
Assist surgeons by providing instruments, sutures, sponges, and surgical supplies during procedures
Maintain sterile technique and monitor the operating room environment to prevent contamination
Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and draping for surgical procedures
Maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse
Assist in specimen handling and proper documentation according to facility policies
Support patient transfers before and after surgical procedures
Assist in operating room clean-up and preparation for the next procedure
Assist with medication preparation under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse
High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology training program
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
Experience working in Labor & Delivery or Operating Room settings
Strong understanding of aseptic technique and surgical procedures
Ability to communicate effectively and work in a fast-paced surgical environment
Additional coursework in Operating Room Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related sciences
Prior operating room or surgical unit experience
Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in high-pressure environments
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform surgical support tasks
