Annual Salary: $60,000 – $85,000
A healthcare facility in Great Falls, Montana is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a progressive care/advanced medical-surgical environment.
The PCU RN delivers comprehensive nursing care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural needs while utilizing advanced assessment skills to identify and respond to changes in patient condition.
Pediatric patients
Pre- and post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) care
Pacemaker and revascularization patients
Carotid endarterectomy and thoracotomy cases
CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure
DVT, PE, sepsis
Broad medical and surgical populations
Provide care for patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including:
Central and arterial lines
Chest tubes
Nasogastric tubes
Continuous bladder irrigation
Multiple IV infusions and pumps
Short-term ventilatory support
Perform continuous assessment to identify early signs of deterioration
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
Educate and support patients and families
Maintain accurate documentation and adherence to professional nursing standards
Serve as a clinical resource and assist with precepting and mentoring staff
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
Recent Progressive Care Unit or Critical Care nursing experience required
Experience in advanced Medical/Surgical settings preferred
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Montana
BLS, ACLS, and PALS (required or obtainable within 6 months of hire)
EPNC and TNCC preferred
Operation of advanced medical equipment and invasive monitoring
Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation
Pediatric nursing experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
