Position Summary

The RN Clinical Educator – Long-Term Care (LTC) provides clinical education, competency oversight, and professional development support for nursing and CNA staff across multiple long-term care facilities.

Approximately 75% of the role is dedicated to LTC-focused education, with additional responsibilities supporting broader clinical education initiatives across the healthcare system.

This newly established role is designed to strengthen onboarding effectiveness, clinical competencies, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based nursing practice within the LTC setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and standardize LTC clinical competencies

  • Design and implement curriculum-based training programs

  • Support accreditation and regulatory compliance initiatives

  • Oversee onboarding and skills validation for nursing and CNA staff

  • Deliver education through various platforms (in-person, virtual, skills labs, etc.)

  • Evaluate educational outcomes and competency performance

  • Partner with clinical leadership to enhance standards of care

  • Provide mentorship and professional guidance to staff

  • Support consortium-wide clinical education initiatives as assigned


Education, Certifications & Licensure Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school

  • Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state

    • Direct hires must apply for Alaska licensure prior to start

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Provider certification (required)

  • BLS Instructor certification (preferred or required within one year of hire)

  • Clinical Competency certification (required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter)


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience

  • At least 2 years of Long-Term Care (LTC) experience (required)

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience

    • 1 year may be substituted with supervisory experience

  • Supervisory experience preferred


Knowledge

  • Professional nursing principles and practices related to LTC populations

  • Adult and geriatric patient care

  • Adult learning principles and effective education delivery methods

  • Regulatory standards and policy compliance in LTC settings


Skills

  • Curriculum development and competency program implementation

  • Evaluation of evidence-based standards of care

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with educational platforms and tools (e.g., virtual learning systems, competency tracking systems, presentation software)

  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams


Abilities

  • Develop training programs applicable across multiple levels of care

  • Foster a positive, patient-centered learning environment

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing and support staff

  • Build effective working relationships with residents, families, and healthcare teams


Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 30% travel required

  • Travel may include jet, small aircraft, and ferry transportation between communities


Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and use of hands

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
