Travel Pay Rate: $49-$54/hr


Unit Overview

  • 28-bed Progressive Care / Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMCU)

  • Cardiac-focused patient population

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3–4


Position Summary

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care to moderately complex cardiac patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced clinical interventions. This role demands strong cardiac assessment skills, experience managing vasoactive drips, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition in a fast-paced PCU/IMCU environment.


Patient Population & Clinical Focus

  • STEMI and NSTEMI

  • Chest Pain (C/P)

  • Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS) patients

  • Cardiac monitoring and post-acute cardiac care


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to PCU/IMCU cardiac patients

  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation

  • Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, including:

    • Milrinone

    • Dobutamine

    • Vasopressors

  • Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and response to treatment

  • Collaborate with physicians, cardiology teams, and interdisciplinary staff

  • Respond promptly to patient deterioration and cardiac emergencies

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR


Required Qualifications

  • Documented Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience must be clearly listed in work history

  • Experience caring for cardiac patient populations in a PCU/IMCU setting

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Required Certifications:

    • BLS

    • ACLS


Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Strong cardiac assessment and critical-thinking skills

  • Experience with STEMI/NSTEMI and post-cardiac intervention patients

  • Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously

  • Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
