Compensation & Incentives

  • Pay Range: $44.27 – $61.99 per hour
    (Compensation is heavily based on years of experience. Candidates near the top of the range should have 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience.)

  • Sign-On Bonus: $25,000

Position Summary

A high-acuity acute care hospital in the Overland Park, KS area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead the Emergency Department. Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services and Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will oversee daily operations, staffing, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance for a fast-paced ED environment.

The Nurse Manager will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining accountability for clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and staff engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight of the Emergency Department

  • Ensure appropriate staffing models to support patient volume and acuity

  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care in accordance with policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices

  • Hold staff accountable for quality, safety, and clinical performance metrics

  • Collaborate with executive and interdisciplinary teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Support staff development, mentoring, and performance management initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of recent (within the last year) acute care Emergency Department leadership experience required

  • Manager-level experience strongly preferred in a high-acuity facility

  • Charge Nurse ED experience may be considered for highly qualified candidates

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required)

  • BSN preferred or actively pursuing (must complete within 2 years of hire)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or active Compact RN license

  • Required within 90 days of hire:

    • ACLS

    • TNCC

    • NIH Stroke Scale

    • ENPC or PALS
