Job Title: Tumor Registrar – Tumor Department (Patient Registration)
Location: Mineola, Long Island, NY 11801 (Local Candidates Only)
Duration: 9 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $45/hour (W2)


Job Summary

We are seeking a Tumor Registrar to support front-end patient registration and administrative operations within a hospital department. This role is responsible for patient registration, insurance verification, data entry, chart management, and providing customer service to patients, visitors, and clinical staff.

Local candidates only – must be able to commute daily to Mineola, Long Island, NY.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner

  • Register patients by accurately entering and updating demographic, financial, and insurance information

  • Verify insurance and patient information through interviews with patients or family members

  • Answer incoming calls, route appropriately, and take accurate messages

  • Prepare, retrieve, maintain, and file patient charts and records

  • Enter data into hospital systems accurately and in a timely manner

  • Obtain patient signatures for required consent and documentation

  • Schedule clinic appointments and manage patient recall files

  • Process laboratory specimens according to established procedures

  • Maintain logs, forms, and departmental documentation per policy


Skills & Qualifications

  • 6–9 months of healthcare or hospital administrative experience preferred

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

  • Basic computer and keyboarding proficiency

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
