Shift: Day Shift (No Weekends)
Compensation: $40.79 – $61.19 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

Position Summary

A leading acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to provide 24/7 leadership and operational oversight for its Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Unit. This role is responsible for aligning departmental operations with organizational mission and strategic goals while ensuring excellence in clinical quality, staff engagement, patient satisfaction, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Provide 24/7 leadership for the Medical-Surgical department

  • Align departmental goals with organizational mission, vision, and strategy

  • Promote service excellence, patient-centered care, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Foster strong collaboration with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily departmental operations

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and payroll processes

  • Ensure appropriate resource utilization and financial stewardship

  • Monitor productivity, operational metrics, and performance indicators

Human Resources Management

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts

  • Oversee staff orientation, competency validation, and ongoing education

  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities

  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage corrective actions when necessary

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards

  • Promote patient safety and high-quality clinical outcomes

  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required

Licensure

  • Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License or RN Compact License (eNLC compliant)

Experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical experience

  • Prior experience as a Nurse Manager or Department Director preferred

  • Strong Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNCs) ready to advance into management will be considered
